What does a song look like?
What shapes its curves, its rhythms, its edges?
This is my journey to discover the story of a song. It has taken shape over the past six months, as I move from capturing a song through gesturally painting on paper, then extracting the edges, creating a connection between the shapes, and then transforming them into 3D paper sculptures.
Along the way, I have kept all the scraps from cutting out each shape, affectionately called my ‘song scraps.’ In moments of free play, I rearrange and then glue them down on painted mylar, portraying that no part of our stories, our songs, are discarded — they are made into something new.
